What are the perspectives for the future Supply Chain?

03 Jul 2020

According to a KPMG study, the priority for firms towards their suppliers remains costs, but there are also new priorities which appear such as shares of knowledge, skills and resources.

In the near future, most firms claim that they want a more integrated supply chain with more responsibilities for suppliers concerning stocks. Firms are looking for safe partnerships with their suppliers and they use financial audits to be sure of their partners. Moreover, there are more and more concerns about intellectual property. Furthermore, we can notice a strong wish of firms to control more and more supply chain. For instance, in 2008, Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault-Nissan said: “We are not anymore in a world where logistics follow”.

The future Supply Chain has to be flexible. To reach this purpose, supply chain managers must have safe suppliers and integrate actors of the supply chain. This shows that Supply Chain’s evolution is at the heart of concerns for the near future. Supply Chain of the future would be flexible, safe and with a strong partnership between different actors of the chain.
